According to Kayla Neiderfer, vice president of Alpha Zeta, proceeds from the race will support the Sunrise Day Camp on Long Island, New York. The camp is the only full-day summer camp where children with cancer and their siblings can attend free of charge.
“It cost $6,000 to send one child to camp, so our goal is to raise enough money to give summer back to at least one child,” Neiderfer said.
At the 5K, Alpha Zeta also will be raffling off two tickets to the Firefly Music Festival. The tickets, which were donated for the 5K, are valued at about $300 each.
