11:13 a.m., Sept. 4, 2014--The Student Centers Programming Advisory Board, (SCPAB), a registered student organization at the University of Delaware, has announced Young the Giant as the headlining performer for its fall concert on Wednesday, Oct. 8. An opener is to be determined.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the University’s Bob Carpenter Center, with doors opening at 7 p.m.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Tickets for the Young the Giant concert will go on sale exclusively to UD students on Monday, Sept. 8. Tickets cost $20 for the first two weeks of sales. Students must have their UD ID. Each student may only use one UD ID and can purchase up to four tickets per UD ID. 

Tickets will be available at the Trabant University Center box office via the Multipurpose Room and the Bob Carpenter Center box office. The box offices open at 9 a.m. on Sept. 8, and the Trabant doors closest to the parking garage will be opened at 7 a.m. that day. 

On Sept. 22, ticket prices will increase to $25 and will be made available to the general public. These tickets will be available at the Trabant and Bob Carpenter Center box offices as well as through Ticketmaster. 

Young the Giant is an American indie rock band from Irvine, California, well known for its hit singles Cough Syrup, Apartment and My Body

The band includes lead singer Sameer Gadhia, guitarists Jacob Tilley and Eric Cannata, bassist Payam Doostzadeh, and drummer François Comtois. Their second and most recent album, Mind Over Matter, was released in January. Recently, they have been on tour with Kings of Leon.
