Newark Police announce arrest and Sept. 21 armed robbery investigation

1:34 p.m., Sept. 23, 2014--Newark Police have announced the arrest of suspect in a Sept. 18 strong-arm robbery and an investigation of a Sept. 21 armed robbery. 

Kyle Price, 20, of Earleville, Maryland, was arrested on Sunday, Sept. 21, by the Elkton, Maryland, Police Department, in connection with a strong-arm robbery of a female University of Delaware student on Sept. 18 on the Pomeroy Trail. 

Price is currently incarcerated at Cecil County Detention Center, where he is awaiting extradition to Delaware.

In addition, Newark Police are investigating a late report of an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 21, on Apple Road near Sunset Road. 

According to the victim, two black male suspects approached him, and one suspect claimed he was a lost student. That suspect then pulled a gray handgun and demanded cash and the victim’s cell phone. After the victim complied, the suspects fled east on Sunset Road. 

The first suspect is described as a black male, 20-22 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium muscular building and an Afro-style haircut, wearing light colored jeans, white T-shirt and carrying a black pack. 

The second suspect is described as a black male, 20-25 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a skinny build and short buzz cut hairstyle, wearing glasses, jeans and a black graphic T-shirt. 

The Newark Police Department is investigating any links among the recent cell phone robberies and encourages students and residents to walk in groups when possible, to avoid openly displaying valuables and to promptly report any suspicious activity.
