Newark Police investigate strong-arm robbery of UD student

11:21 a.m., Sept. 4, 2014--Newark Police are investigating a reported strong-arm robbery of a University of Delaware student that occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3, in the area of Kent Way and South College Avenue in Newark.

An 18-year-old male UD student reported that he was walking on South College Avenue when he was approached by two suspects, one of whom tackled him to the ground and punched him in the face. The victim reported that the second suspect then removed his wallet and took money from it. The suspects then fled on foot and were last seen going north on South College Avenue.

The student walked back to his residence hall on Hillside Road before calling police. He sustained swelling to his face but refused medical treatment.

The suspects are described as black men, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds and wearing black sweatshirts with hoods pulled up over their heads. One suspect had a long goatee.
