Schueler featured speaker in Department of Philosophy fall colloquium
1:15 p.m., Sept. 2, 2014--Fred Schueler, University of Delaware professor emeritus, will be the featured speaker in a Department of Philosophy fall colloquium presentation at 3:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, in 114 Gore Hall.
Schueler will speak on “The Role of Causal Concepts in Action Explanation.”

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.
June 6-9: Food and culture series
The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.
“Since the middle of the last century, the dominant view in philosophy of mind has been that the explanations of actions provided by citing an agent's reasons for performing an action are at bottom a variety of causal explanation,” Schueler said. “This is a deep and important insight if true. In this talk, I will dissect some of the main arguments supporting this claim and argue that in fact it is not true.”
