Downtown Newark to hold eighth annual Main Street Mile
1:43 p.m., Sept. 22, 2014--Downtown Newark will hold the eighth annual Main Street Mile run beginning at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4.
Hundreds of runners and participants are expected to take advantage of the rare opportunity to run down the center of Main Street without cars and traffic while at the same time supporting the Newark Police K-9 Unit and the Downtown Newark Partnership, of which the University of Delaware is a member.

The annual fundraiser has become an important source of funding for the Newark Police K-9 Unit.
The race will begin at the Newark Public Library and conclude at the Deer Park Tavern.
There will be free T-shirts for the first 250 people registered.

Day of race registration will be held 8-8:45 a.m. at Fusion Fitness on East Main Street.
