University Library offers 'Digitizing Old Formats' workshops
9:13 a.m., Sept. 24, 2014--The University of Delaware Library will present three workshops on digitizing old formats in October.
The workshops are “Digitizing Old Formats: Audio,” “Digitizing Old Formats: Photos” and “Digitizing Old Formats: Video.”

Each workshop will teach participants how to transfer treasured memories on old formats to digital formats for use on a computer and will provide an overview of equipment available at the Student Multimedia Design Center.
“Digitizing Old Formats: Photos” will cover the steps necessary to convert participants' media, including VHS and Hi-8 tapes to DVD, and 35mm photographic film, prints and slides to digital files.
The workshop will be held from 2-4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 9, in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center on the lower level of the Morris Library. Presenter will be John Stevenson, associate librarian, Student Multimedia Design Center.
“Digitizing Old Formats: Video” will cover the steps necessary to convert participants' media, including VHS and Hi-8 tapes to DVD.
The workshop will be held from 2-4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center. Stevenson will be the presenter.
“Digitizing Old Formats: Audio” will cover transferring formats such as vinyl records and audio cassettes to digital files that can be enjoyed using a computer or digital audio players.
The workshop will be held from 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center. Stevenson will be the presenter.
These workshops are available at no charge and are open to University of Delaware faculty, staff and students. Seating is limited and registration is required. Online registration is available.
