Sept. 21: Community Day
Newark Community Day to be held on UD's Green
10:57 a.m., Sept. 8, 2014--Newark Community Day will be held from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 21, on the University of Delaware Green.
The family-friendly event, which features musical performances and hundreds of vendors, is sponsored by the city of Newark's Parks and Recreation Department in cooperation with UD, the Christina School District and the Downtown Newark Partnership.

Newark Community Day features great food, fine art and homemade crafts that have been created by local artisans and crafters, and a children's area complete with games of skill and chance. There is also a scarecrow making area in which children of all ages can build their own scarecrows for the fall.
Community information booths and activities are supplied by a variety of local businesses and organizations, and downtown businesses and restaurants will offer dining and retail specials.

City officials ask those who plan to attend to remember that pets are not comfortable in the heat, noise, and crowds of large events, so for their safety and the safety of those attending the event, please leave your pets at home.
In case of inclement weather, Main Street merchant and dining specials will remain in effect. All other activities will be postponed until Sunday, Sept. 28. For weather related cancellations, call 302-366-7147.
