Newark Police investigate attempted robbery

10:28 p.m., Sept. 23, 2014--Newark Police are investigating a reported attempted robbery that occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 23, in the 700 block of Lehigh Road in Newark.

A 29-year-old woman was in the driveway of her home when an unknown man approached her and demanded that she turn over her wallet. When the victim said she did not have a wallet, the suspect pushed her to the ground and fled in an unknown direction. The victim then returned to her home and alerted police at 5:39 p.m. The victim sustained an abrasion to her arm and cheek but declined medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, with  an average build, weighing 170-180 pounds, with dirty blonde shoulder length hair and facial scruff. He was wearing a white tank top, shorts and white sneakers.
