UD Police charge suspect in Sept. 5 strong-arm robbery

10:54 p.m., Sept. 5, 2014--University of Delaware Police have charged Carlton V. Kilson, 25, of Elsmere, Delaware, in connection with a strong-arm robbery of a UD student that occurred on The Green around 11:46 a.m., Friday, Sept. 5.

The 20-year-old female student was sitting on a bench in front of Harter Hall, on The Green near East Main Street, when a man approached her, pushed her to the ground, grabbed her laptop and ran away. When the victim and several bystanders chased him on to East Main Street, the suspect stopped and threw the laptop at the victim. A Newark Police officer was in the area and took the subject into custody after a brief struggle. 

The victim sustained minor abrasions and bruising from being pushed to the ground but refused medical treatment.

UD Police charged Kilson with first degree robbery, two counts of terroristic threatening, two counts of menacing, third degree trespassing, criminal mischief under $1,500, and resisting arrest. He was committed to Howard R Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $24,100 secured bail.  Kilson is not affiliated with UD.
