Blue Hens invited to baseball games, neighborhood welcome events

2:39 p.m., Sept. 5, 2014--University of Delaware alumni are invited to a variety of activities, including summer baseball games and “welcome to the neighborhood” events.

Alumni events around baseball games are scheduled in Baltimore, where the Orioles will host the New York Yankees, and San Diego, where the Padres will take on the Philadelphia Phillies.

UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

Blue Hens will be welcomed during special events in Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.

Information on these and other activities follows:

Saturday, Sept. 13, 11:30 a.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/Baltimore. Alumni will get together for a pre-game reception at the B&O Warehouse at Camden Yards, then enjoy an American League contest between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees.

Wednesday, Sept. 17, 7:10 p.m.: Alumni Baseball Series/San Diego. Southern California alumni will meet at Basic Pizza, then take seats in Petco Park to watch the San Diego Padres battle the Philadelphia Phillies.

Sunday, Sept. 21, 1 p.m.: DC Welcome to the Neighborhood. The DC Alumni Club will welcome new graduates and take a tour of the Bluejacket Brewery.

Tuesday, Sept. 23, 11 a.m.: UD Fall Career Fair. The Fall Career Fair, to be held at the Bob Carpenter Center, provides an informative and diverse forum for employers, UD students and alumni of all majors and degree levels to interact.

Tuesday, Oct. 7, 5 p.m.: Philadelphia Welcome to the Neighborhood. Alumni in Philadelphia will welcome the Class of 2014 during a happy hour at the Misconduct Tavern on Locust Street.

Saturday, Oct. 11, 10:30 a.m.: Pittsburgh’s Phipps Conservatory. The Pittsburgh Alumni Club will present a guided tour of the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden.

Saturday, Oct. 18, 6 p.m.: Boston post-regatta happy hour. The Boston Alumni Club will host a happy hour following the first day of racing at the 50th Head of the Charles Regatta at Tavern in the Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Thursday, Oct. 23, 6 p.m.: Operations management alumni. The fifth annual Operations Management Alumni-Senior Connections Dinner will be held in Alfred Lerner Hall.

Saturday, Oct. 25: Saturday Symposium: ‘Remembering the Great War.’ Alumni are invited to a Saturday Symposium presentation, “Remembering the Great War,” on the UD campus.

Saturday, Nov. 15, 8:30 a.m.-noon: Philabundance ‘Battle of the Blue.’ UD alumni will challenge Villanova University in a “Battle of the Blue” food sorting contest at Philabundance.
