Sept. 22: 'Actors on Acting'
Professor emeritus to discuss actors, acting at Newark Senior Center
1:26 p.m., Sept. 15, 2014--Richard Davison, University of Delaware professor emeritus of English, will discuss “Actors on Acting” during a presentation at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 22, at the Newark Senior Center.
Davison will offer a rich sampling of insights from award-winner actors including Hume Cronyn, Jessica Tandy, Ruby Dee, Julie Harris, Cherry Jones, James Earl Jones, Nathan Lee and Jason Robards Jr. from his co-edited book of interviews, The Actor’s Art: Conversations With Contemporary American Stage Performers.

In the book, the actors talk of their own art and the art of those they most admire, including Laurette Taylor, Ethel Waters, Ralph Richardson, Alfred Lunt and Lyn Fontanne, Tony Randall, Laurence Olivier and Kim Stanley.
“In their collected accounts resident treasures of theatre that would have been lost save for their memories,” Davison said.
