U.S. Air Force Chamber Trio to perform in Gore Recital Hall

5:49 p.m., Sept. 8, 2014--The United States Air Force Band’s Chamber Trio will present a free public concert at 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Roselle Center for the Arts at the University of Delaware.

The program will include works by Milhaud, Roussell, Bartok and Bernstein. This non-ticketed performance is sponsored by UD's Department of Music.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

The Chamber Trio is a part of the United States Air Force Band, stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C. The group is led by clarinetist Senior Master Sgt. Brian McCurdy. Originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia, he began his Air Force career in 1997. McCurdy received a bachelor of music degree in clarinet performance from Shenandoah University and a master of music degree from the University of Maryland.

The second member of the trio, flutist Master Sgt. Jennifer Moore Tersero, is from Oxford, Michigan. Her career in the Air Force began in 1997 as a flutist with the Air Force Band of Liberty, Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts. From 1991 to 2001, Tersero served overseas as a member of the USAFE Band in Germany. In 2001, she became a member of the U.S. Air Force Band, Washington, D.C. A 1994 graduate of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, Tersero earned a bachelor of music degree in flute performance and received the Distinguished Graduate Award in 1994. She then attended Western Michigan University on a full-time assistantship, where she was a member of the Graduate Wind Quintet and the Battle Creek Orchestra. She graduated in 1996 with a master of music degree. Tersero also holds a master of science degree in education from Old Dominion University.

Cellist Master Sgt. Joshua Kowalsky is the third member of the Chamber Trio. Originally from Interlochen, Michigan, his Air Force career began in 2006. Kowalsky is a 1995 graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy. In 1999, he graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and in 2001, he earned a master of music from the University of Michigan. He went on to earn a performance diploma from the Hochschule Für Musik in Frankfurt, Germany, in 2004.

As part of the U.S. Air Force Band, these airmen musicians honor those who have served, inspire American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and positively impact the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States of America. The excellence demonstrated by these airmen musicians is a reflection of the excellence carried out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by airmen stationed around the globe. Each member is proud to represent all airmen, whose selfless service and sacrifices ensure the freedoms enjoyed by the citizens of the United States of America.
