OISS begins program-packed fall semester with coffee, conversation

7:19 p.m., Sept. 11, 2014--The Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) will host the first International Coffee Hour of the fall semester from 4-6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12, at the Wright House, 44 Kent Way.

International Coffee Hour (ICH) is a weekly social event bringing together international and domestic students and scholars and the UD community.  It is a place to meet people, make new friends, practice language skills and learn about different cultures, while enjoying a free cup of coffee or tea and snacks.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Some ICHs feature live music, chances to win prizes and occasionally offer a platform to celebrate special events, holidays and contest winners. 

Enjoy live music at the kickoff ICH by Eclectic Acoustic. Members of the band include Ruthie Toole, IGS administrative assistant, and Jack Bartley, director of the Associate in Arts Program.

OISS provides immigration advising and support services to UD’s international student and scholar community.  This semester includes a list of about 40 events. 

OISS programming and information sessions include employment and immigration training, culture shock talks presented by the Center for Counseling and Student Development, job searching and resume writing workshops hosted by the Career Service Center, field trips to Cape May and New York City, orientation sessions for new visiting scholars and their families and the annual essay contest
