Newark Police investigate robbery of two UD students on Main Street

5:30 p.m., Oct. 29, 2014--Newark Police are investigating a robbery that occurred on East Main Street in Newark around 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Two female University of Delaware students were walking east on East Main Street, approaching Academy Street, when they were approached by a woman who grabbed a purse from one of them and ran. The two victims ran after the suspect. When the suspect realized there was no money in the purse, she told the victims she had a gun and demanded money. The victim whose purse wasn’t stolen then gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money. Multiple witnesses ran after the suspect, but she was eventually able to elude capture. 

The suspect is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, 25-35 years old, with light brown hair in a pony tail and wearing jeans and a black jacket.
