Kathleen Kerr, executive director of the Office of Residence Life and Housing, lauded Sorantino for consistently providing service above and beyond expectations.

“I have witnessed Lisa interacting with new and longstanding staff in the department, and she is amazing,” Kerr said. “Her positive and warm demeanor, combined with her attention to detail and advanced problem-solving skills, make her a true asset to Residence Life and Housing.”

James Tweedy, senior associate director of Residence Life and Housing, noted that in less than a year with a department that includes 240-plus student employees and 40 full-time staff members, Sorantino has developed new systems to effectively manage a variety of complex departmental and HR-related tasks.

“Lisa has done so in a positive, forward-looking fashion and has made the process seamless on the part of our employees,” Tweedy said. “She also has added a strong sense of vision and professionalism to our administrative operations, and I feel she is quite worthy of this recognition.

In addition to coordinating payroll and onboarding for such a large number of student employees within a short time, Sorantino has skillfully managed the department’s budget and HR systems, according to Ivet Ziegelbauer Tweedy, assistant director in Residence Life and Housing. “She has been a helpful resource and an advocate for countless students throughout July, August and September, a time when our office experiences a significant amount of traffic,” she said. “I could not ask for a better ambassador to welcome new employees to our department.”

Despite responsibilities that can make her job hectic at times, Sorantino enjoys the opportunity to get to know each student employee.

“Working in Residence Life and Housing allows me to interact with students and families, which has been my goal since I started working at UD four years ago,” Sorantino said. “I enjoy all of my coworkers and the energy and camaraderie in our department.”

Sorantino said she welcomes the opportunity to get to know her fellow HR liaisons in what she described as a very supportive community and appreciates being recognized for her contributions.

“I feel very honored that I was chosen to be HR Liaison of the Quarter,” Sorantino said. “I love what I do, and I enjoy coming to work every day. Being recognized was a very nice surprise.”
