“We want to bring graduate students together across campus and create a stronger community,” said Chris Castillo, president of Graduate Student Government and a doctoral candidate in mathematical sciences.
“The Graduate Student Gala enables graduate students from one program to reach across other programs and interact with students in ways they may not have otherwise. It’s not super-formal, but designed to acquaint students with each other and with cultural opportunities such as these gallery exhibitions that are right at their doorstep,” Castillo said.
The evening will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, beverages and time to socialize with friends and colleagues. Graduate students are welcome to bring a guest if they would like.
Tickets, which are $10 apiece, must be purchased for one of the two gallery group tour sessions: 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m., or 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m. The deadline for ticket purchase is Monday, Oct. 6, at 11:30 p.m.
