Maryland's Raschid to present paper on 'Financial Big Data' in Ewing Hall
9:52 a.m., Oct. 29, 2014--Louiqa Raschid of the University of Maryland will discuss “Financial Big Data and Data Science for Finance” at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7, in 203 Ewing Hall on the University of Delaware campus in Newark.
The presentation is sponsored by the Institute for Financial Services Analytics in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics.

Raschid is a professor of information systems in the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, and holds a joint appointment with the Institute for Advance Computer Studies and the Department of Computer Science.
Raschid has made significant contributions toward solving the challenges of data management, data integration and performance for applications in the life sciences, web data delivery, health information, financial information systems, humanitarian IT applications and grid computing.
Her research spans the fields of computer science, business information systems and life science data management, and she is an expert in optimization and large-scale simulation, modeling and semantics and logic based reasoning, and data management and analysis techniques.
She has published approximately 140 papers in leading conferences and journals.
