“There is strong evidence to support physical inactivity as a risk factor for many chronic diseases,” Kirkman says. “Implementing physical activity for the prevention and management of disease is a public health priority. People of all ages can improve their quality of life by taking part in regular, moderate-intensity exercise.”
The counseling is geared to help individuals prepare for, implement and maintain physical activity as part of their everyday routine toward a healthy lifestyle.
“We’re pleased to partner with the Nurse Managed Health Center to offer exercise counseling services to members of the community,” says Bill Farquhar, chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology. “Dr. Kirkman has extensive experience working with a variety of patient populations and is ideally suited to provide these services.”
Call the Nurse Managed Health Center at 302-831-3195 for more information about exercise consultation or to schedule an appointment. Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card.
