Police arrest 145 for underage drinking at loud party

6:19 p.m., Oct. 29, 2014--An Underage Drinking Enforcement Operation, including officers from the Newark Police, University of Delaware Police and the Delaware Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement, resulted in the charging of 145 persons with underage drinking at a loud party on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25, in the unit block of Continental Avenue.

After an undercover investigation, officers determined that alcohol was being provided to minors, and a search warrant was executed at the residence just after 3 p.m. Officers identified 145 underage subjects (including three juveniles), and all were arrested and released pending future court appearances. The juveniles were turned over to the custody of their parents.

Newark Police continue to investigate the incident and have identified three residents of the house who will be arrested on 145 counts of providing alcohol to a minor, two counts of possession of marijuana, three counts of noise violation, three counts of underage consumption of alcohol, three counts of failure to obtain an event permit for a gathering over 150 people and three counts of conspiracy to provide alcohol to minors.
