May 12: Survey results
Open forum to discuss results of national student engagement survey
10:40 a.m., May 6, 2015--Last spring, the University of Delaware asked all first-year and senior undergraduate students to participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). Nearly 2,000 students, about evenly split between first-year and senior students, responded.
Staff in the University's Center for Teaching and Assessment of Learning (CTAL) and Institutional Research (IR) will share NSSE results in an open forum at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, in 108 Memorial Hall.

“We’ve participated in NSSE several times, and students’ responses provide us with a wealth of data about students’ perceptions, beliefs and practices related to their academic and co-curricular engagement at UD,” said Kevin R. Guidry, CTAL senior research analyst.
Initial analyses confirm that many UD students experience a world-class education through high rates of participation in high-impact educational practices, such as study abroad and research with faculty. Results also affirm that students’ choices, such as time spent studying and engagement in high-impact practices, have beneficial outcomes.
In advance of this open forum, reports have been made available on the new IR website at http://ire.udel.edu/ir/nsse/ for all UD students, faculty and staff.
CTAL and IR staff will welcome questions and discussions at the open forum. They also welcome inquiries and requests for additional information and analyses. UD students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and follow up with Guidry at krguidry@udel.edu for additional information about NSSE and how it can inform discussions and decisions at UD.
