UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

"Doug Zander is exceptionally well qualified to lead our admissions efforts," Lucier said. "He has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities currently affecting all of American higher education, as well as a proven track record of helping Delaware shine. While at UD, he has played an integral role in the recruitment of some of the University's largest, most diverse and best-qualified classes, and he will play an even bigger role shaping our enrollment to reflect our University’s goals and vision.

"In addition, I want to thank the members of the search committee and its chairs -- David C. Wilson, associate professor of political science and international relations and associate dean of the social sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences, and Melissa Stone, director of Student Financial Services -- for their diligent work," Lucier said.

"I am excited and humbled to receive this appointment," Zander said. "It is exciting to build on the outstanding achievements of the admissions team and all those who support the efforts. It is humbling to lead the admissions effort for an institution of such great stature.

"I look forward to an historic future with UD as we work together to solve the evolving complexities facing higher education — including access and success — with uncompromising standards of excellence for ourselves and the students we serve," he added.

The director of admissions is responsible for managing and directing all activities related to meeting the University's goals for recruiting undergraduate and transfer students in all seven undergraduate colleges, as well for the Honors Program and University Studies, which includes students who have not yet determined a specific field of study.
