Students will be expected to complete an internship with a congressional delegation, a federal agency, a nonprofit/advocacy group or related organization for six credits. Students also will enroll in two three-credit courses: "Policy Practicum in Washington" and "Power, Inequality and Social Policy." The courses will be co-listed between political science and public policy.
The program will begin on Sunday, February 7, 2016, and end on Friday, May 15, 2016. Housing will be provided through the Washington Intern Student Housing program.
The program will be directed by Freel, who worked in the Carter Administration, served as a chief of staff in the U.S. House for 10 years, was Delaware’s secretary of state and most recently served as a senior adviser to U.S. Sen. Tom Carper. Freel is a policy scientist in the Institute for Public Administration and a member of the faculty of the School of Public Policy and Administration.
