CEO of National Wildlife Federation to speak

2:22 p.m., May 4, 2015--Collin O'Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation and former Delaware secretary of natural resources and environmental control, will speak at the University of Delaware campus on Tuesday, May 5.

His free public talk on environmentalism, economic development and entrepreneurship is scheduled at 5 p.m. in Room 127 Memorial Hall.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

O'Mara served for almost six years as the state's secretary of natural resources and environmental control, leaving in 2014 to assume his current post.

Before coming to Delaware, he served as the clean tech strategist for the city of San Jose, California, and was the primary architect of that city's Green Vision.

A native of Syracuse, New York, O'Mara was a University Fellow at the Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He was also a Marshall Scholar at Oxford and a Presidential Scholar at Dartmouth College.
