Newark Police investigate knifepoint robbery

4:58 p.m., March 23, 2015--Newark Police are investigating the report of a knifepoint robbery that occurred around 8:15 p.m., Sunday, March 22, in the first block of O'Daniel Avenue in west Newark.

The incident occurred when a 61-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle, which was parked behind an apartment building located in Victoria Mews. As she attempted to open the door, two men pinned her against the vehicle while one placed a knife against her neck. They demanded money and removed the wallet from her purse. 

Both suspects then fled on foot toward Elkton Road. The victim sustained a minor scratch and redness to the face; no medical attention was needed. 

The suspect with the knife was described as 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, with a heavy build, wearing dark clothing and a hooded shirt covering his head. The second suspect was described as 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, with a thin build, wearing dark clothing and a hooded shirt covering his head. 

The Newark Police Criminal Investigation Division was called to the scene and is continuing the investigation into the incident.
