Kansas historian to present lecture on race, social justice in America
9:12 a.m., March 11, 2015--David Roediger, Foundation Professor at the University of Kansas, will present a lecture on race and social justice in America from 7-9 p.m., Monday, March 16, in 130 Smith Hall on the University of Delaware campus in Newark.
The lecture, presented by UD’s Department of Political Science and International Relations and sponsored by the Center for the Study of Diversity, is titled “White Responses to Black Resistance from the General Strike of the Slaves to Brown 3.”

It is part of a series of presentations on “The Difficult Conversation.”
Roediger teaches history and African American studies at the University of Kansas, and writes on race and class in the United States. His recent books include Seizing Freedom: Slave Emancipation and Liberty for All, How Race Survived U.S. History and, with Elizabeth Esch, The Production of Difference.
Roediger’s research focuses on racial identities and labor history in the U.S.
