New UD Press book edited by alumni honors professor emerita

2 p.m., March 2, 2015--The University of Delaware Press has released a new collection of essays edited by three doctoral alumni and honoring Lois Potter, professor emerita of English, who retired in 2008.

Early Modern Drama in Performance: Essays in Honor of Lois Potter focuses on Shakespearean and early modern drama, reflecting the area for which Potter is most widely known, as a performance critic, editor and literary scholar.

The essays address recurring themes in Potter’s work, including Shakespeare and non-Shakespearean early modern drama, performance history and theatre practice, theatrical performance across culture, play reviewing and play reading. They were written by a diverse group of scholars who have been influenced by Potter.

The book’s editors, who all earned their doctorates in English at UD, are Darlene Farabee of the Class of 2007, associate professor of English at the University of South Dakota; Mark Netzloff of the Class of 1997, associate professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; and Bradley D. Ryner  of the Class of 2006, associate professor of English at Arizona State University. 

Early Modern Drama in Performance is currently on display in the University of Delaware Press display in the lobby of Morris Library. All publications displayed are available in the cataloged collections in the library. Copies are also available for purchase in the University Bookstore.
