Genealogy workshops
University of Delaware Library offers two genealogy workshops
3:16 p.m., March 26, 2015--The University of Delaware Library will present two workshops on genealogy during the spring semester.
“Genealogy for Beginners” will cover the basics for researchers who are just starting to work on their family histories. It will present an overview of the types of records that contain genealogical information as well as research strategies for finding and recording this data.

Participants will learn how to search the online database Ancestry Library Edition for U.S. census records.
“Tracing Your Family’s World War I Military History” will present strategies for searching Ancestry Library Edition’s U.S. Military Collection, which offers draft registration cards, awards and casualty lists and other service records.
The workshop also introduces historical newspaper databases for coverage of events of the times.
“Genealogy for Beginners” will be offered on Thursday, April 9, from 10 a.m.-noon, in the Library Instruction Room (116A) on the first floor of the Morris Library.
Presenters will be Rebecca Knight, associate librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department, and Linda Stein, librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department.
“Tracing Your Family’s WWI Military History” will be offered on Thursday, May 14, from 10 a.m.-noon, also in the Library Instruction Room with Knight and Stein as presenters.
These workshops are offered at no charge and open to University of Delaware students (including students in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute), faculty, staff and the general public. Seating is limited and registration is required.
