Chris Coons to discuss relationship between civic leadership, federal government
5:24 p.m., July 2, 2014--U.S. Sen. Chris Coons will discuss “Relationships Between Civic Leadership and the Federal Government,” at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, July 3, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Roselle Center for the Arts. His talk previously was scheduled at 11 a.m.
His free public talk will include a question-and-answer session.

The program is sponsored by the Institute for Global Studies, which is currently facilitating two visiting international programs on campus: the Washington Fellows for Young African Leaders and the Middle East Partnership Initiative Student Leaders Program.
As well as serving as the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs, Coons organizes an annual conference, "U.S. Senator Chris Coons' Opportunity: Africa Conference," aimed at linking Delaware businesses, faith communities and individuals to shed light on trade opportunities, challenges, development, food security and global heath issues on the continent. This year’s conference featured former President Bill Clinton as the keynote speaker.
