1:01 p.m., Jan. 29, 2015--The University of Delaware LGBT Caucus, in coordination with many offices on campus, has announced that Shane Windmeyer of Campus Pride will visit UD on Wednesday, Feb. 18, to present a morning keynote address and an afternoon workshop.

Windmeyer is a leading author on gay campus issues, a national leader in gay and lesbian civil rights, and a champion for LGBT issues on college campuses.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

His keynote, “The State of Higher Education and LGBTQ Campus Climate,” is scheduled at 10 a.m. in Multipurpose Rooms A and B of the Trabant University Center and will also include a review of UD’s Campus Pride Index score.

The afternoon workshop, scheduled from 2-4 p.m. at Trabant, will focus on engaging productive bystanders to encourage a more welcoming and inclusive campus environment.

Both events are open to the entire campus community.

The LGBT Caucus is one of nine diversity caucuses at the University of Delaware, administered by the Office of Equity and Inclusion. 

The LGBT Caucus is committed to fostering and sustaining a welcoming and affirming climate on campus for LGBT faculty/staff, students, families and visitors by participating and initiating activities and programs that contributes to UD’s diversity goals.

The Feb. 18 event is being co-sponsored by the Office of Equity and Inclusion, the Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity, the Center for the Study of Diversity, Student Life, the Faculty Senate’s Committee on Cultural Activities and Public Events, Haven, the Latino Heritage Caucus, the Women’s Caucus, the APPI Heritage Caucus, the Department of Women and Gender Studies, and the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice.
