Deadlines announced for Carter Scholarship, Collins Award
12:35 p.m., Jan. 16, 2015--The nomination deadline for the Mae Carter Scholarship and the Bessie B. Collins Award is Feb. 13, Carol Henderson, vice provost for diversity at the University of Delaware, has announced.
These honors pay tribute to women who played important roles in the education of women at UD. Complete information is available at www.udel.edu/diversity. Nominations should be submitted to: Vice Provost for Diversity, 116 Hullihen Hall, or emailed to vpd@udel.edu.

Recipients will be honored at the annual Women of Promise Celebration, scheduled at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 12, at the Trabant University Center. In celebration of UD Women 100 Years, this year’s guest speaker will be Amy DuBois Barnett, award-winning print and online media executive. Additional details will be announced later.
Bessie B. Collins Award
Named for Bessie Collins, former dean of women who was an early advocate and supporter of continuing education for women, this award honors an adult woman student, recognizing the diversity and richness adult students bring to the University community. The recipient receives a $500 award.
The Mae Carter Scholarship
This award honors Mae Carter, former assistant provost for women's affairs and executive director of the Commission on the Status of Women, and is given to an undergraduate woman student at the University who carries the values of supporting women that Carter has represented to the UD community. The recipient receives a $1,500 scholarship.
