High performance computing
Registration open for first High Performance Computing Symposium session Jan. 28
3:50 p.m., Jan. 23, 2015--University of Delaware researchers are invited to the first High Performance Computing Symposium session, scheduled Wednesday, Jan. 28.
The session will kick off with a presentation by Cristina Archer, associate professor of marine science and policy, and her colleagues in the Atmosphere and Energy Research Group about their use of UD's High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters to apply computational fluid dynamics to the study of wind energy, including simulations of the turbulent wakes downwind of single and multiple wind turbines.

The presentation begins at 10 a.m. in Faculty Commons (Room 116 Pearson Hall) and will be followed by an hour-long open forum for researchers and IT staff to ask questions and find answers, brainstorm and share ideas.
Registration is available at the IT Research Computing website. Refreshments will be provided.
This presentation is the first in a series of meetings designed for researchers using or interested in using the University’s HPC clusters.
