Newark Police investigate robbery of student on Casho Mill Road

12:16 p.m., Feb. 23, 2015--Newark Police are investigating the robbery of a male University of Delaware English Language Institute student that occurred around 2:12 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, on Casho Mill Road in Newark.

The student was walking near the CSX underpass when he was approached by a man who displayed a knife and demanded his money. The student fled on foot, and the suspect grabbed his ear buds from around his neck.  

The student, who saw a second suspect nearby as he was running from the area, went to the Newark Police State on South Main Street to report the incident. He was not injured.

The suspect with the knife is described as 18 to 21 years of age, short with a thin build, wearing gloves, light blue pajama pants, a light blue hooded sweatshirt and a cloth around his face. 

The second suspect is described as 19 to 22 years of age, 6 feet tall, with a heavy build, facial hair and wearing a beige hooded sweatshirt with red stripes.

• Show a confident attitude and be alert and aware of your surroundings. 

• Avoid walking alone at night. Walk with a group, ride a UD shuttle bus or call for a walking escort.

• Use well-lighted paths and sidewalks, and take the most direct route. 

• Report all suspicious activity by calling 911.
