Campus Recreation offers spring semester programs for students, faculty, staff
3:42 p.m., Feb. 10, 2015--University of Delaware Campus Recreation has a variety of activities for students and faculty and staff members throughout the spring semester.

Special fitness programs and competitions
• Lift Like a Girl. This six-week long, educational program that will teach female students how to do basic full body exercises using dumbbells and barbells. By the end of this class, each participant should feel comfortable venturing into the weight room. Class meets on Wednesdays from Feb. 18-March 25. Spots are filling up fast. Sign up.
• Top Hen. Compete against fellow Blue Hens in various fitness challenges to be named “Top Hen.” Winners receive the new Top Hen tank tops. Those wishing to participate can do so at any time by notifying a fitness staff member. First challenges start Monday, Feb. 16. Schedule of competitions.
Intramural sports leagues and tournaments
Intramurals are the perfect way to de-stress and stay active while having a great time with friends, a Campus Recreation representative said, adding that students are encouraged to think of a fun team name with their friends and sign up. Winning teams receive the popular intramural champion T-shirts. View all sports leagues and tournaments.
Upcoming registrations include badminton and 5v5 basketball on Wednesday, Feb. 18, and IM Athlete of the Year and 4v4 wallyball on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Sign up.
Group fitness classes
UD’s nationally certified instructors will keep participants motivated with good music and words of encouragement as they guide them through an effective workout. Join the 10,000 Blue Hens participating each semester by getting an unlimited or single class pass at the cashier’s office in the Carpenter Sports Building, or Little Bob. Personal training
Whether new to exercise or interested in pushing to a higher level, UD’s nationally certified personal trainers can coach participants to success. An exercise program that is safe, effective and tailored to meet specific fitness goals will be created. Sessions are scheduled at participants’ convenience. View all personal training packages.
Ice skating
The University arena is hosting several ice skating events throughout February. UD students get free admission with a valid UD ID. Skate rentals are $4. All ice skating events.
• UDance ice skating fundraiser. Friday, Feb. 13, 6:30-8:30 p.m., with $2 of every skate rental donated to UDance. A B+ hero will drop the opening puck for the hockey game following the event. All event attendees will receive free admission to the game.
• Valentine’s Day skate. Saturday, Feb. 14, 8-10 p.m. Sweet treats provided by Studio Green Housing and the UD Chocolate Club. Free skate rentals for all ladies.
