University Library offers Adobe Photoshop multimedia workshops

8:09 a.m., Feb. 3, 2015--The University of Delaware Library will present two workshops on the functions of Adobe Photoshop during the spring semester.

Adobe Photoshop is the Swiss army knife of multimedia applications. It is useful for a number of projects such as animation, photo editing, graphic design, web design, poster design and much more.

Two levels of workshops are offered: “Adobe Photoshop: The Basics” and “Adobe Photoshop: Advanced Masking Techniques.”

The “Adobe Photoshop: The Basics” workshop is for those with little or no experience with Photoshop who want to learn the basics and will cover how to: crop, resize and combine images; use layers and layer masks; adjust curves, saturation and color; and export for the web or print. 

“Adobe Photoshop: Advanced Masking Techniques” will introduce participants to sophisticated workflows using Photoshop’s layer masks, quick masks, channels and paths. This workshop will start at an advanced level; it is recommended that participants take some of the library’s other Photoshop workshops first, or have considerate previous experience with Photoshop.

“Adobe Photoshop: The Basics” will be offered on:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 17, 7-9 p.m., in Room A of the Student Multimedia Design Center, Lower Level, Morris Library. Presenter will be Nico Carver, assistant librarian, Multimedia Collections and Services Department.
  • Friday, Feb. 27, 10 a.m.-noon, in Room A of the Student Multimedia Design Center. Carver will be the presenter.

“Adobe Photoshop: Advanced Masking Techniques” will be offered on:

  • Thursday, March 5, 7-9 p.m., in Room A of the Student Multimedia Design Center. Carver will be the presenter.

These workshops are available at no charge and are open to University of Delaware faculty, staff and students. Seating is limited and registration is required. Online registration is available at this website.
