March 8: UD's Anderson to conduct NSO
UD's James Allen Anderson named Newark Symphony guest conductor
8:40 a.m., Feb. 11, 2015--The University of Delaware’s James Allen Anderson, assistant professor of music, will be the guest conductor for the Newark Symphony Orchestra (NSO) at its “Sturm and Delight!” concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 8, at the Independence School on Paper Mill Road.
Musical selections include Death and Transfiguration by Richard Strauss and Violin Concerto, Op. 14 by Samuel Barber, featuring violinist Carolyn Semes, who is the High School Division winner of the Youth Concerto Competition.

Concluding the concert is Symphony No. 8 by Ludwig van Beethoven.
Because the NSO is celebrating “March is Music in Schools” month, free admission is offered to music teachers presenting a DMEA/MENC card.
Tickets will be sold through the NSO website or at the door and cost $20 for the general public, $15 for senior adults and $10 for students. Tickets are free for those younger than 12.
