Department of Materials Science and Engineering sets spring lecture series

9:23 a.m., Feb. 27, 2015--The University of Delaware Department of Materials Science and Engineering has announced its spring lecture series, featuring speakers from across the country.

All lectures will take place at 10:30 a.m. in 322 Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory (ISE Lab).

Chronic wounds

UD's Millicent Sullivan and Kristi Kiick have received a $1.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health for research that could provide a new approach to the treatment of chronic wounds.

Prof. Heck's legacy

The American Chemical Society is highlighting the legacy of the late Nobel laureate Richard Heck, the Willis F. Harrington Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of Delaware with a digital tribute on its publications website.

The talks are scheduled as follows:

March 11 – Danielle Benoit, James P. Wilmot Distinguished Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester, speaking on “Bone Allograft Repair Using Tissue Engineering Paradigms.”

March 18 – Alberto Salleo, associate professor of materials science and engineering at Stanford University, speaking on “The Materials Science of Semiconducting Polymers: Understanding the Link Between Microstructure Structure and Device Performance.”

April 15 – Brent Sumerlin, associate professor of chemistry at the University of Florida, speaking on “Structurally Dynamic Assemblies of Stimuli-Responsive Polymers.”

May 13 – Margarita Herrera-Alonso, assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University, speaking on “Molecular and Process Parameters of Solution Based Polymer Self-Assembly.”
