Registration open for second High Performance Computing Symposium session
10:03 a.m., Feb. 10, 2015--University of Delaware researchers are invited to the second High Performance Computing Symposium session, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25.
The session will kick off with a presentation by Tian-Jian (Tom) Hsu, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, and his research group about their use of UD's High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters to study coastal processes.

The presentation will cover several aspects of coastal processes including modeling sand transport and fluid mud caused by breaking waves, as well as studying the dynamics of river plumes and tidal inlets.
The discussion will also include how Hsu uses open-source codes developed at UD to create the numerical models used in his research.
The presentation will begin at 10 a.m. in Faculty Commons (Room 116 Pearson Hall) and will be followed by an hour-long open forum for researchers and IT staff to ask questions and find answers, brainstorm and share ideas.
Registration is available at the IT Research Computing website. Refreshments will be provided.
This presentation is the second in a series of meetings designed for researchers using or interested in using the University’s HPC clusters.
Registration is also available now for the next session, on June 24, at the IT Research Computing website.
UD researchers interested in presenting a future HPC Symposium should contact it-hpc-interest@udel.edu.
