Newark Police arrest student for assault

6:25 p.m., Feb. 9, 2015--Newark Police have arrested a University of Delaware student in connection with a large fight that occurred around 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, at an apartment complex at 10 Center Street, Newark.

When officers arrived, they saw a large crowd leaving the area, and multiple victims reported that a man had assaulted them when he was asked to leave the party. The man, who was not on scene when the officers arrived, was later identified by police as Roman Tatum, a UD student from Winter Garden, Florida. 

The three victims were male UD students, ages 20, 20 and 22. Two victims had minor injuries and the third had his top front teeth dislocated. 

Tatum turned himself in to Newark Police on Feb. 8 and was charged with second degree assault, two counts of third degree assault, criminal trespass and criminal mischief. He was released after posting $1,100 secured bond.
