“Every year Varsity Vocals puts out a compilation album to feature the best of college a cappella from all around the world. Somewhere over 1,000 tracks are submitted every year and this year Vocal Point's version of Wrecking Ball was chosen for the album,” said Jon Smith, a 2014 alumnus and former music director for the group. “This album is very selective and it's a great honor to be chosen.”
In addition to UD’s Vocal Point, groups featured on the album are from institutions including the University of Virginia, the University of Southern California, Penn State University, the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
Smith noted that this is Vocal Point’s second feature on a compilation album, as they were also selected for Voices Only 2014 earlier in the year. That compilation similarly seeks to feature the best in recorded college a cappella each year.
Vocal Point, which placed third in the world at Varsity Vocals’ International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella held in April in New York City, is currently working on an EP that will be released next spring, Smith said.
