At Yale, she is professor of diagnostic radiology and of neurosurgery, associate professor of surgery in otolaryngology and director of interventional neuroradiology. With her promotion in July, Johnson became the first African American woman to be named a full professor at the Yale medical school. Her father, the late Brennie E. Hackley Jr., was also a trailblazer as UD’s first African American doctoral graduate in chemistry, earning his Ph.D. in 1957.
