2:33 p.m., Dec. 4, 2014--The DENIN Ambassadors have announced their third annual environmental video competition. The theme of this year’s competition is “A Personal Journey.”

Videos entered in the competition should reflect a personal odyssey by the filmmaker that led to changes in his or her life based on environmental fact-finding, discovery or reflection.

Campus Stories

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

Students may work in teams to create a video, but one student must be designated as the producer/director and entrant. That person will submit the video and receive any prize — division of the prize among team members will be at the discretion of the team leader/producer.

Entries should be original digital videos up to 10 minutes long and must be submitted in .mov format by 5 p.m. on Feb. 27, 2015.

A panel of judges will select the winning video, which will be screened as part of UD’s “Lights, Camera, EARTH!” environmental film festival, March 6-8, where the winner will be announced and the prize awarded.

A $1,000 grand prize will be awarded for the top video. Videos will be judged based on the following criteria:

  • Creativity;
  • Depiction of theme and effectiveness of environmental message; and
  • Cinematography and production values

Complete rules, instructions and the entry form for the competition are available on the Delaware Environmental Institute (DENIN) website.
