Student Success Symposium set for Feb. 19
1:10 p.m., Dec. 23, 2014--The Center for the Study of Diversity (CSD) at the University of Delaware has announced that its upcoming Symposium on Research-Based Interventions for Student Success will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19.
Five prominent researchers from around the country will converge on UD's campus for an in-depth discussion, panel and workshop about how universities can develop practical strategies for improving student success outcomes for diverse students.

The symposium will feature presentations of research findings demonstrating effective interventions that promote student success by noted research scholars:
• Valerie Purdie-Vaughns, Columbia University;
• Greg Walton, Stanford University;
• Rudy Mendoza-Denton, University of California, Berkeley;
• Rebecca Covarrubias, University of Delaware; and
• Stephanie Fryberg, University of Washington.

All faculty, administrators, staff and students are invited to this day-long interactive symposium, which aims to highlight the problems in and solutions for improving the achievement for diverse students, including underrepresented minority students, first-generation college students and lower-income students.
