Unsung Hero

The One Love Foundation has announced that University of Delaware men's lacrosse standout Elijah Conte has been selected as a winner of the 2016 YRL Unsung Hero Award.

At the end of the weekend, UDFS came away with the gold. The team claimed its third straight national title, totaling 110 points. Dartmouth College finished second with 92 points and Boston University finished third with 71 points.

“Winning this third consecutive national title feels absolutely incredible and surreal,” Hannah Kimberly, UDFS president, said. “I knew the team was capable of doing it, however seeing the entire team come together and put everything they had into their skating this weekend in order to achieve this national title made me so incredibly proud to be a part of this team.”

“Right away, I felt like we were a family,” Jacob Schedl, a freshman on the team, said. “And to have your second family there for you during the competition makes everything so much easier.”

“I love getting to see all of our friends from the Midwest and West Coast,” Beth Kalbach, UDFS secretary, said. “Berkeley especially is one of my favorite teams. Having shared a locker room with them in previous years, and seeing them all again at opening ceremonies was really exciting – it felt like we were coming home to our West Coast family.”

“I think that UDFS has a fantastic future ahead of us as we move past this weekend and start looking toward next season,” Kimberly said. “We have a very strong team that will be returning next year and I think that we have the potential to achieve even more than we did this season. I am so excited to see what else UDFS can achieve as we look toward building our team for next season.”
