Free event set on UD's Green for students to show Blue Hen pride

1:33 p.m., April 28, 2015--University of Delaware students are invited to participate in the inaugural I Heart UD Day to be held from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, on The Green. There will be fun and giveaways.

This event is an opportunity for students to express their UD pride and gratitude for those who have helped them to get where they are today. Students are encouraged to write thank you notes to UD’s biggest supporters, including donors and volunteers who have made UD’s success a priority by giving back.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Students who attend can receive Insomnia cookies, I Heart UD tech tattoos, I Heart UD decals and other giveaways, while supplies last.

Scheduled events include photo booths with selfie frames, yoga sessions and the opportunity to win free UDairy Creamery ice cream. Students may bring a packed lunch for a picnic on The Green or purchase ice cream from the UDairy Moo Mobile any time btween 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. There will also be opportunities for students to sign and take pictures with their class banner and complete other #UDBucketList items.

Likewise, alumni are encouraged to share with @UDAlumni on Facebook and Twitter why they love UD and to wear Blue and Gold on May 13. 

The hashtag for the day is #BlueHensForever.

I Heart UD Day is a partnership between the UD Alumni Association (UDAA), Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAAs), Senior Class Gift (SCG), the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, and Communications and Public Affairs.
