Fashion industry experts to discuss corporate strategies, employment
10:57 a.m., April 22, 2015--University of Delaware students are invited to attend and participate in a panel discussion by several members of the Department of Fashion and Apparel Studies Industry Advisory Board from 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, in Mitchell Hall.
The advisory board, which consists of fashion industry and organizational stakeholders who work with the department in its planning, holds its annual meeting on campus that day, and many of the board members will attend the panel discussion.

Each panelist will be asked to present his or her company’s strategic focus and the impact that strategy will have on jobs and skills needed in the future. Speakers will discuss their strategies in terms of changes in the fashion and apparel industry and how their companies are addressing those changes.
Students are asked to familiarize themselves with the advisory board members’ companies and positions in order to ask relevant questions at the panel discussion.
Panelists will be Edward Gribbin, president of Alvanon, the world’s leading apparel sizing and fit expert; Peter Liu, managing director of AsiaNet Consultants, Asia's leading executive search firm for sourcing, retailing, supply chain management and manufacturing; Janet Malin, general merchandise manager of the Home Division at Urban Outfitters in Philadelphia; Theodore Sattler, a consultant who is retired after holding numerous management consultants at PVH and Burlington Industries; Walter Wilhelm, CEO of Walter Wilhelm and Associates and a pioneer in creating and implementing technology to streamline the product design and development processes; Barbara Mounsey Zeins, president and CEO of Gerson and Gerson and a board member of America's Apparel Producers Network; and Paula Zusi, a UD apparel design alumna who is executive vice president and chief supply chain officer for Ann Inc.
Moderating the panel discussion will be Rick Horwitch, vice president for solutions business development and global marketing for Bureau Veritas’ Consumer Products Services.
