University Library announces Constitution Day 2013 web page

8:59 a.m., Sept. 4, 2013--The University of Delaware Library has announced the web page “Constitution Day 2013: Delaware and the Ratification of the 17th Amendment” is available in observance of Constitution Day, which will be marked on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The year 2013 is the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 17th Amendment, which established direct election of senators by the people instead of by state legislatures.

“Constitution Day 2013: Delaware and the Ratification for the 17th Amendment” includes links to items about the state of Delaware and the Constitution, the amendment and more. 

The booklet The Constitution of the United States is available free at the Reference Desk in the Information Room in the Morris Library while supplies last.

Constitution Day is celebrated every year to recognize Sept. 17, 1787, the day the Constitutional Convention delegates signed the newly written constitution.
