Fall festivities

Student Wellness and OPT4 host several nighttime events this fall


4:13 p.m., Oct. 14, 2013--University of Delaware Student Wellness and Health Promotion and OPT4, a registered student organization, have planned several festive nighttime events this fall.

The events include a Halloween Extravaganza and ice skating at the Fred Rust Ice Arena, with details as follows:

Forest to pharmacy

The UD exhibit at this year's Philadelphia Flower Show will provide visitors a lesson in the inherent value of abundant plant life, with a focus on the Amazon rainforest.

Lights, Camera, EARTH!

Six documentaries, a special guest speaker and a winning student video will be featured at UD's second annual environmental film festival Lights, Camera, EARTH! to be held March 6-8.
  • Oct. 31: Halloween Extravaganza – Students are invited to a late night Halloween bash in the Multipurpose Rooms of the Trabant University Center, from 10 p.m.-1 a.m. The extravaganza features food, dancing, inflatables, a candy buffet, a costume contest, a photo booth, a henna artist and DJ Amaze. Any student groups interested in getting involved with the Halloween Extravaganza should contact Caress Roach at caressed@udel.edu or Regina Phillips at reginap@udel.edu
  • Nov. 8: Free Ice Skating – OPT4 is hosting an ice skating event for students from 8-10 p.m. at the Fred Rust Ice Arena. For more information or to get involved, contact Paulina Wiedmann at paulinaw@udel.edu.

OPT4 consists of students who promote safe decision-making amongst their peers by encouraging students to attend activities and join clubs. Student Wellness and Health Promotion provides additional funding and guidance to OPT4.

Funding for this project has been provided by the Delaware Department for Health and Social Services, Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, through a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
