This was the 11th annual Summer Blood Challenge, which helps help prevent summer blood shortages in the region. Donation rates increased 14 percent over a similar period last year.
University employees may become members of the Blood Bank of Delmarva free of charge as part of their voluntary benefits package.
The next major opportunity to donate blood on the Newark campus will be during the CAA Blood Challenge on Wednesday, Nov. 13. UD won the 2012 challenge and is seeking 1,500 donors this year.
