UD to mark Latino Heritage Month with 13th annual Fiesta Latina
8:39 a.m., Oct. 21, 2013--The University of Delaware’s 13th annual Fiesta Latina will be held Friday night, Oct. 25, in the Multipurpose Rooms of the Trabant University Center.
The event, sponsored by the Center for Black Culture and HOLA, will be held from 7-11 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Feb. 9-24: 'Galileo: 400 Years'
Feb. 9: Public policy issues
There will be a live Latin band, Orquesta Insaciable, and traditional food.
The theme for the event is "Dia de Los Muertos," or "Day of the Dead," a holiday acknowledging and honoring deceased loved ones in celebration, rather than mourning. It is a loving ritual, full of joy and remembrance allowing the dead to return to their earthly homes and visit with their loved ones. Its origin is traced back to Mexico and has spread and been celebrated around the world. This event is traditionally celebrated Nov. 1 and 2.
